Lucerne Events and Lucerne Festivals

There are usually many different things to do in Lucerne, with some events and notable festivals taking place most months. However, it is the summer time in Lucerne when the biggest and arguably the best festivals tend to take place.

One such event is the acclaimed Lucerne Festival, which is held from the middle of August until early September and features a series of classical music concerts, performed by leading orchestras and famous musicians alike.

The Lucerne Festival dates back some 60 years and is also staged during both March and November, although it is the summer events that are the biggest crowd pullers.





Another major event held in Lucerne since 2004 is the Rose d'Or Festival, which is perhaps better known as the Golden Rose and is a television awards ceremony, attracting many famous celebrities to the city each spring. Also of interest is the annual Blue Balls Festival, a massive music event with rock, pop, jazz and folk concerts all around the city.

For something quite different, look out for the Lucerne Cheese Festival each October, while for athletes, the City Run at the end of April may well appeal.
